The boys at Cricket Australia have just released their Best 100 Test players since 2000.
When they listed Misbah at number 83, only one place ahead of New Zealand’s Chris Martin and 73 places out of the top 10, it was obvious they were just pulling names out of a hat.
Misbah averages 50 with the bat, is playing at 41 years of age, has the world record for the fastest 50 and 100 in a Test, bore the brunt of a nation’s hysteria and simultaneously lead them to number 3 in the rankings with everything against him.
Martin other averages over 33 with the ball and has a highest Test score of 12*.
So, rather than fix it for them, I’ve decided to allow you to Vote for the Worst 100 Test players in the World since the year 2000.
I’ll probably only be able to come up with 20.
I don’t feel great doing this, as to reach the level of Test cricketer you are a special player.
But you are lying to yourself if you aren’t even a little bit interested in the outcome.
To have your say, just add a nomination in the comments section below.
In a week or so, I’ll release the definitive list.
There are no criteria that I can think of at the moment.
You can nominate anyone.
Hell, I’ve just nominated Steve Bucknor.
Votes for James Anderson will not be counted. He’s ranked number 101.
So, what are you waiting for?
Leave your nominations in the comments sections below, you horrible person.

DennisCricket_ Brilliant Dennis! Great response to the nonsense from CA.

DennisCricket_ did sherwin campbell make it into this century?
LambicPeach He sure did! Researching it now
DennisCricket_ he really helped bridge that incredibly short gap between the windies being awesome and then realising they were shit
DennisCricket_ with help from keith artherton
LambicPeach Neither make the final cut, but Sherwin was my first reserve opener
DennisCricket_ can’t comment on the site, but I would like to nominate Darryl Haire.
Beau Casson. 1 Test 3 wickets for 139.
Dilhara Fernando
DennisCricket_ Far too difficult without a criterion of at least 10 matches played.
DennisCricket_ Can’t work the comment section on #WorstTestPlayers but hope someone has nominated Twatto. And both these Marshes.

DennisCricket_ most of the comments are in another language. That was… Odd.
GregHerbert In their language, English is another language
DennisCricket_ of course. But makes it difficult for the tally-er of votes (ie you) to understand!
GregHerbert You assume 1) I’m tallying anything 2) I can’t read Japanese.
DennisCricket_ guilty on the first charge. On the second, Japanese, hey? I must be more unfamiliar with Japanese than I thought!
GregHerbert Persian?
DennisCricket_ more like it 🙂
DennisCricket_ apart from the time he blew your team away.
DennisCricket_ is there a category fo the worst coach since ’00?, think you should have one
DennisCricket_ Seems a bit harsh. But Craig White…..
DefensiveBlock Just nominate whoever you want in the comments.
DennisCricket_ Carberry & Pattinson (Darren)
DennisCricket_ just make sure jordan makes it 😉
DennisCricket_ is that the double ashes winning Tim Bresnan or a different one?
Shane Watson.
1. MSK Prasad- India.
2 Aakash Chopra- India
3. Shaun TaIT- Australia
.
karachikhatmal DennisCricket_ Plughole for the scum of the internet…
DennisCricket_ problem is he helped bowled Aus out for 98 at the Mcg
The sensible thing to do is nominate Shane Watson but that’d be too easy. I’ll go with anyone who’s surname is Marsh
Usman Afzaal. Ian Ward. SS Das. Ashley Giles.
salman butt, m asif, m amir, s sreesanth (all obvious reasons), j trott (for running away), afridi (for brain fart shots),
DennisCricket_ ALL of South Africa’s quotas!!!
DennisCricket_ I think Mohammad Sami will be common to all lists.
Fair to say he is likely to make the final Worst XI
Shane Watson. That is all
dinesh kartik from india.
Unfortunately Bryce McGain must be up there. When your debut is officially the worst bowling performance of all time, and you never play another test to redeem yourself, how can you be anything other than the worst test player ever
@Mick Believe it or not, he is not even close to the worst spinner.
Of all players with a minimum of 10 tests played and 1000 balls bowled, most of the worst batting-minus-bowling averages belong to Bangladeshis and Zimbabweans. However, the 19th-worst figures belong to some quasi-Englishman named Kevin Pietersen at -41.31. I dunno why England keep selecting that guy, but they should consider booting him off the team. Unless he’s a good guy in the locker room. You gotta keep those guys around. They’re the glue that holds the team together.
Of specialist batsmen, which I define as 10+ tests, 1000+ runs, <10 wickets, and not wicketkeepers, Russell Arnold of Sri Lanka fared the worst of all players from major test-playing nations. After 1/1/2000, he averaged a mere 24.20 runs in 32 matches. (He did contribute 5 wickets and 36 catches, but still….)
A couple of my beloved New Zealanders probably deserve consideration. Jeetan Patel averaged 48.5 with the ball and only 12 with the bat in 19 tests across many years (mostly as a fill-in for an injured Danny Vettori). And World Cup Semi-Final hero Grant Elliott has rather, um, less-heroic test returns: in 5 tests, he managed only 86 runs at 10.75 and 4 wickets at 35. (We don’t care about that, Grant: we’ll always have Auckland.)
@Raff Great analysis.
From pak Salman butt m.Asif m.amir k.akmal d.kaneria imran farhat s.malik should feature from India sreesanth dinesh karthik s.raina a.nehra munaf Patel r.jadeja
James from The Full Toss here. My vote goes to Michael Beer and / or Xavier Doherty. Both terrible, terrible club bowlers 😉
JamesMorgan4 Great to see you James. I suggest everyone visit his site http://www.thefulltoss.com for all your English cricket needs
